animal protein

Hello everybody. I’m doing an online Science of Nutrition course. Another learner asked if the Paleo diet is ideal and I said I thought not because animal proteins are harmful. When asked for evidence by a “lead educator” I said The China Study and was sent a link (Google “The China Study Revisited”) and the comment that “I thought that had been discredited.” so I need some more up to date research to share about the negative effects of animal protein, please! (The same person said “protein is protein, whatever its source.”)

The China Study has not been “debunked” or “discredited”. On the contrary, Colin Campbell’s findings in relation to animal protein and cancer are consistent with results from leading scientists who have published their results in high impact journals.┬áLuigi Fontana found that casein caused accelerated growth of human tumours transplanted into mice (xenografts). Valter Longo’s research links animal protein with a greatly increased risk of all-cause and cancer-specific mortality. Another independent research team that published similar results is mentioned in The China Study. If you can find any published studies with different results I’d be interested to read them.
