Any tips for hamstring/glute pain?

Any tips for hamstring/glute pain? Been in pain going on 6 months. Just started physical therapy going on two weeks. Started anti inflammatory for a week now. Doesn’t matter how much I rest as soon as I walk for more than 5 minutes I’m back in pain. Is it patience what I need? Any ideas that would help alleviate some of this pain would be appreciated.

It could also be sciatica. Pretty much exactly what you’re describing. Therapist elbow to the glutes is pretty typical. Stretching and massage. No sitting or standing too long (alternate). Heat and ice alternate as well. Agree that curcumin it’s a great anti inflammatory. Patience. You don’t want to further aggravate whatever is going on. Good luck.

Planks to strengthen your core, back and thoracolumbar musculature.  Possibly squats to strengthen the muscles connected to the pelvis. Try the squats for a week or 2 to see if they help or not. It’s hard to say if it will without a diagnosis. Strong muscles heal faster and are less prone to re injury.

I have a regular massage therapist I see and it STILL got out of control AND I soak weekly. I was also doing 5×5 and yoga so lots of squats. My hamstrings weren’t abnormally sore, so I don’t have that in common. ANYWAY. Cupping. YUP. I had three treatments over three weeks and it either cleared up on its own or it worked! And the cups were applied to my upper glutes and along my IT band as well as back neck shoulders. Not even applied to that area. I know some other athletes who’ve been treated for their tight hip flexors with acupuncture. So, if you’re sure it’s not nutritional maybe check out cupping and/or acupuncture.

Piriformis is my nemesis! I take curcumin 2 times a day and stretch a lot after workouts. A standing desk helped, too.
