Anybody have recommendations on gear? Specifically boots and a pack? Do a lot of hunting, but have never been out west. Planning a DIY elk hunt with a couple of buddies this year though. Second season, north central CO. Will be packing in for a couple of days at a time. I know it will be a whole different terrain from whitetail hunting here in Ohio, but I’m not sure what exactly to expect.

Grab something where you can carry your bow or rifle on your back. Possibly with a hydration bladder. Cabela’s has a nice one for 150.

I’m looking at mystery ranch, and kifaru, and exo mtn gear. Figure, go nice once and never buy again. Kuiu has an amazing warranty on there’s though.

Mystery ranch Marshal. Best pack money can buy. A lot of money that is.

Packs,, Mystery ranch, Kuiu, Kifaru, Seekoutside, Stoneglacier,, ect are all good packs and all allow for up to 100lbs and have meat shelf system ( packs have changed a ton in last 10 years a lot of great packs). Boots Kenetrek,Selewa,Asolo,Lowa,Danner ect. Are all great boots having to find boots that fit and feel good. All the boots that are Mountain hunter boots are stiff and you need to wear them at least 30 miles before you head out.
