Are the treadmills, ellipticals, bikes and other cardio machines accurate when it comes to miles completed and calories burned??
My boyfriend mentioned to me that my treadmills calories burned and miles put in doesnt look right.
Last night i did an hour and 10 minutes (3.53 miles) on the treadmill (2.5 incline and 3.1 speed straight through no stopping or increase in incline or speed) and burned 710 calories. i use the manual setting that has me put in my weight and age. does calories burned and miles completed seem right?
If thats too confusing to read:
3.53 miles completed
710 calories burned.
Does that seem right?
I can’t speak for the treadmill specifically, since I use the elliptical for my cardio and just cool down on the treadmill or walk a little before weight training to get my blood flowing, haha.
But, I wear a Fibit with a heart rate monitor and it shows my calorie burn on the elliptical as pretty similar to what the machine tells me. A deviation of maybe 20/30 calories, so that’s pretty close.
The treadmill is more accurate. The elliptical is a liar and from research it’s a total waste. The treadmill never says burn 700 calories in 40 mins for me. In about 30 minutes it says that I burn about 300 and I have that incline cranked up and speed on like 3.0
