Can any of you guys and girls recommend me good bulking and calorie dense food/meals? I have been at the gym 5 months or so and haven’t seen much in the form of gains at all, I eat lots of beans, mixed beans, carbs, healthy fats like hummus and avocado etc, but I am fearing either I’m not eating enough, or working out right, lifting heavy enough, form is off or whatever, so am feeling very disheartened. Would you guys be able to help me out with what you eat in a day for bulking and maybe what workouts you do on this bulk? I would greatly appreciate it.

Use MyFitnessPal to set your goals and track what you eat. If you’re eating at maintenance level you won’t gain muscle mass.

I’m talking about your caloric intake. Maintenance level is the amount of calories that keeps your weight stable. If you’re eating at a deficit level, you’ll lose fat (or muscle) and if you’re eating at a surplus level, you’ll gain muscle (or fat). You need to find out what your maintenance level is and eat 300 to 500 calories above that level daily.

A tyical day for me is cereal oats with banana, (I don’t weigh or calorie count), a bowl of soup, usually mixed beans or lentil and veg etc, I’ll have hummus with breadsticks or in a roll with spinach, red onion, cucumber etc. My meals always include either pasta, rice or potato as the carb obviously, and I’ll usually have a variety of mixed veg like aubergine, courgette, broccoli, mixed beans, lentils, carrots, red potato, sweet potato, rice and stuff. I’m trying to cut out fake meats more, trying to reduce it two a couple of times a week as they’re not great for you I hear if you eat too much, and am trying to be more creative and have more variety in what I cook as it forces me to cook and be proactive and not rely on pre cooked and made foods. I can message you workouts if you wish?

All sounds sensible enough, thanks for sharing. I am not a qualified PT, so best to share on here so that others more knowledgeable than me can help. Do you have the quantities of the above you eat?

The biggest mistakes I made were to eat the right things but never eat enough. Or eat enough just not the right macronutrient breakdown. Thats why measuring is so essential.
