Do I need to put anything in and run it for so long with no fish or just let it run.

Ok so I set up my 10 gallon today, I haven’t put anything in to treat the water and I am letting it filter. Do I need to put anything in and run it for so long with no fish or just let it run. I was planning on at least 24 hours before putting a fish in but not sure if that is correct.

So you havent put water conditioner in? Generally it takes up to a month for a tank to safely cycle so id reccomend putting it off for a little otherwise youll end up with either ill or dead fish

So you can do a fish in cycle. Essentially involves doing a lot of water changes but you DO need to use water conditioner

Do research on fishless and fish in cycles. There can be a bit to it. You can use things to help get the beneficial bacteria going quicker but usually frequent water checks and changes within the first month. Lots of step by step instructions on here and the web. You’ll be happier and your tank will too.

Correct me if I’m wrong… water conditioner is pointless if there are no fish?
