Need advice… Do you drill your holes first and then setup your portable over the holes or do you set up the portable and then drill the holes? I’ve got an Otter XTH Resort. Gas auger, not an electric. Thanks.

Drill then set up. After doing it a few times not bad, could always set it up, mark where you want holes then move it, little easier with my quickfish 3i though.

I put a hole under my chair for my fish tv, 1 hole on either side, I drill a hole 10yrds out for a tip up I’d I’m in the mood. I have a 10″ auger so anything that gets dropped is going down, no extra holes for stuff to go down.

Set up then drill, keep the doors open when drilling then finish get set up and the smell and smoke should be cleared out.

I drill after shelter is up. I open door, vents etc . Drill and then it takes just a couple minutes to air out while I’m setting tip ups up and doing some other final touches. Never have an issue.

Walls first! Celing last. Go in reverse to take it down. It’s a bitch to put back in the bag when it’s -10 and it’s stiff and frosted from your heater.

I’m backwards I suppose. I drill my holes, then set the house up over them after I have the slop shoveled off from around them. Keeps the house from getting soaked, & keeps the oil blowing out from the exhaust from getting on the fabric & making a mess. Just have to pay attention not to step into one of my holes while I’m setting up.

Setup then drill, that way you don’t accidentally fall into your own holes. Also you can space the holes perfectly after u setup and vent out by opening the doors or windows.
