Dry needling-has anyone experienced long term relief with it? I had my first session today. I’m not afraid of needles and have quite a high pain tolerance but my GOD was it uncomfortable. It felt like my muscles were being shocked with a current and were trying to burst out of my skin.

OMG! I am SO jealous! This is something DPTs can do in some states (not mine), and it is something I have been researching. I have a lot of trigger points, so I think it would help me. I have a few friends in class who have experienced it, and it HAS had long term results. One girl said it changed her life!

My husband had good results with some deep muscle tightness in his hip the first time around, but stopped too early in my opinion. He did say it was very painful, and he has a high tolerance for pain. I heard about it from a coworker who was using the same PT for an issue in her neck and shoulder that was causing her neck to pull to one side. She had previously been using botox injections for the issue. She only got to the 3rd session and had to stop because of the pain, she described as feeling of rubber bands popping deep within her shoulder. When my husband tried a second time around he didn’t have as good of results. We are currently seeing a functional manual therapist with IPA training and it has been one of the best things either one of us has done.
