Even with lightweight, you can still get a great workout.

I did free weight squats today, have not done them for a long time due to three bulged disks. I used to LOVE free squats. I could do 415lbs x3, 315lbs x10 back in the day. I warmed up good, put a total of 95lbs on the bar and did descending sets going below parallel and not locking out at the top. The first set was 20 reps, rested 30 seconds, did 15, rested 30, did 10, rested 30, did 8, rested 30, did 6….. What a pump!! I am thinking I will feel this later today. Even with lightweight, you can still get a great workout.

I did some basic squatting, too. Wimpy weights compared to most folks in this group, but with strict form. Not too shabby considering I wasn’t able to stand up from a wheelchair six months ago, though. Hope your back stays stable.

I did regular squats as a younger man…personal best 600 at age 22…would train up to 545 for sets of 5…and step ladder back down to 315 of which I did up to 30 reps…but I also had a lower back injury and for decades squats hurt…a few years ago I started using the squat machine and my lower back pain has gone away.
