80% diet, 20% exercise. Focus on eating healthy and keeping track of calories/sugars. I use an app to help me out, there’s tons. If you’re like me and extremely lazy, exercise by doing 10 mins of beginner workouts at home, and when you’re used to that, go up to 20, 30, etc.
The only I have been able to do it and stick to it is by tracking what I eat on My Fitness Pal app. It is free, and keeps you from eating more than realize. I also do elliptical 4 days a week for 30-45 min. Down 45 lbs and still going in 4 months.
