I used the couch 2 5k app it worked well for beginning.

Start small…go a couple times around the block to begin with, perhaps with a sprint or two IF you think you can. From here, up your distance gradually – once you find a route you like, you can either increase the distance, or try and finish the route with a quicker time. Oh yeah, last piece of advice – get used to the Forrest Gump references

If you’re just starting out, take care to use shorter strides as it significantly decreases the impact on your knees in the long run.
