How about carb cycling? - a diet that involves varying your carb intake through the week (some days are a 'high carb' and others a 'low carb'). It helps maintain a satisfied feeling and stick to a calorie restriction.

Negative consequences of pure low carb? I think whoever wrote this needs to do a much better job of researching the subject and not just cherry picking items to fit their agenda. Carb cycling can really mess up your metabolism and can cause some serious issues for people who may be trying to recover from eating disorders or binging issues.

It works for some, just depends on what your purpose is and your body is like. I did not read the article, though I know about carb cycling.

Yes it can work for some people but for people who have underlying metabolic issues like insulin resistance or Type 2 Diabetes it is not a good idea to be carb loading and causing insulin spikes. Also there has been enough research done to show that “pure” LCHF is sustainable for the long term without causing any harm. Dr Dominic D’Agositno who has been eating a strict ketogenic diet while body building, as well as doing research on it’s effects, has found no down side to it so far. People do not realize babies are born in ketosis, remain in ketosis if they are breast feeding and stay that way until they start eating solid foods. This is a perfectly natural state for the human body to be in, if it was harmful it wouldn’t be the natural state derived from drinking mother’s milk during one of the most crucial times in our neural development.
