Hunting in thick timber this morning. I was using a little primos sit and spin decoy because I was in a tight spot that was awful thick. Figured it would keep the attention off of me. Had a coyote come in and get about 10’ from the decoy and haul ass! Saw him for about .5 seconds and he was gone. Off to the next spot without a decoy.

I was playing adult cottontail on the foxpro when I saw him. I’m using a rifle but even with the shotgun I wouldn’t have had time to shoot. He came out to an old logging road right at the decoy. Never even really made it out into the road. He was supposed to come out a little piece down the road and come up to me. Haha

Make sure your on the down wind side of your decoy and you can see anything getting close to it most guys have caller set-up 30-50 yards up or cross wind easy shotgun range if it’s that thick probably set up somewhere you have better view next time. Every set up you do will make you better for the next one.Still got your pumping though? It’s addicting. In the thick woods I hunt out of my tree stands I have cleared areas around them.

I’ve found animals don’t like surprises, the same decoy that may lure them in out in the open will scare the shit out of them in close quarters where it is suddenly there
