I am going to attempt my first 24-hour fast today. I am typically a 16/8er. The longest I’ve ever been able to make it is 21 hours and I really want to get to the 24 and think that I am mentally there today. The last time I ate was at 7:30 last night, I went to the gym this morning and did an hour-long HIIT training workout, and now I’m getting ready to go to work. I am prepared with plenty of water, homemade bone broth, and I’ll have a cup of coffee on my way in. My question is, is it okay to drink flavored Perrier water? I’m going to be at work for 10 hours today and I’m thinking that it will help me get through, mentally but if it will set me back I will leave it at home!
Flavored unsweetened Perrier’s great, I’m drinking La Croix right now myself. Bone broth is a bit more complex – its fine if you are going for a fast with weight loss as your goal, but it will interfere with autophagy. If you need it, great and don’t worry about it, but if you don’t need it then better to abstain.
For me, protein like bone broth provokes a lot of hunger. I can water fast like a viking, but when you start sliding in bpcs and bone broth it’s a lot harder for me. Save the broth till you are ready to crumble and crutch it to the next leg of the journey.
I have successfully completed my second 36 hour fast at 9 am. I have attempted it multiple times before and failed. After consulting with Ben he pointed out my thyroid might off because I was getting super cold to the point of shaking in every previous attempt.
