I have an opportunity for accommodations in south Fork where 80/76 and I believe79? Need to verify units, Come together. My question is which area within easy driving distance should I focus planning/scouting efforts on for the best odds of success and why? Not looking for specific honey holes just an overall feel for north-south-East-West etc… Mostly 2-3 rifle but also collecting points for a future muzzleloader hunt. And go.

I’ve heard 76 is a trophy unit and it’s up against 79. That being said, I haven’t hunted 79 for several years because the elk there are very limited since they don’t have much pressure from 76. They can be found. My family was going there up until last year and haven’t had any success so they switched also. Last time I was there, 2 out of state guys got a couple bulls around table top. That’s right on the boundary line and the way they explained it, they had to have been in the other unit when the shot their elk.

Focus on 76 if you have pp. But it takes 8pt for 1st season.

76 is special draw only big bulls but takes 8-10 points to draw.
