Please help- I am having terrible trouble with my 220litre tank. It’s a tropical tank with 2 Angels and 6 tetra congos plus 1 kissing gourami. I bought a Black ghost knife last week and it struggled in my tank. I have now moved it to my cichlid tank but it’s contained in a floating box. It’s doing well and so after checking water parameters, doing water changes etc I moved it back to the 220lt tank- 5 days later. Well after being in the tank 24hours it’s not doing so good, so back it goes into other tank confined.
I’m wondering if it can be released into my cichlid tank considering it obviously prefers these parameters- and I really don’t want it to be confined any longer than necessary- the tank has 2 blue colbalts in it. Will they be ok?
The issues in my 220litre tank are my PH and ammonia- I just can’t seem to fix it….. the fish in it are all doing ok but the BGK can’t tolerate it.
I’m ready to give up – I have bought a new filter for it- ( put old media in yes) I’ve done water changes, I use prime. I’ve even added Stress zyme and salts. There is only fake plants and sand in the tank. The ph is LOW ( 6ish) and the ammonia is too high- I’m using a master kit and will post readings later as I have just done a big water change.
I had a customer a while ago who had the same problem.. we were doing everything to try and fix it, and nothing was working. It turned out to be the sand. Waste was getting trapped and ended up being toxic. Once she took that out, it was perfect. That could be something to think about.
