I seem to be stuck at 188. Aiming for 178 but seem to be hovering. I’m on a low carb, low calorie, no alcohol, 1 gallon of water a day, intermittment fasting 16/8, not eating after 8pm and not before 12pm, lifting, cardio. I’m hoping of I just stay the course the weight will come off?
Stay the course, and the needle will move. I’ve hit many plateaus. But, keep this in mind – if you consider your eating a “diet,” with an end goal, you’re more likely to regain weight down the road. Don’t mean to be a downer, that’s just the reality. The goal should be to develop *permanent* eating habits that will stabilize you at your ideal weight, and make a small calorie deficit adjustment to those permanent habits until you get to your goal.
And, yes, muscle that replaces fat can move you towards a goal without changing the scale reading. IIRC a pound of muscle is equivalent to 2500 calories, while a pound of fat is 3500.
If you don’t mind my asking, how many calories are you eating? Too little can be a problem.
Justin, is it possible that you are putting on muscle and loosing fat? Remember Muscle is heavier and you will gain if that is what you are doing. Not sure what diet you are on and we all have opinions, mine is DONT. If you are working out eat to fuel your body, its not about going hungry…..if you let your body go hungry which you are if you don’t eat before 12 it will start storing fat for those times. You are better off having 5 or so small meals during the entire day. It is more about what you eat not so much when you eat and certainly not about going hungry, specially when working out. You will do more damage then good.
