I have carb loaded prior to my other half marathons but now that I’m Keto WOE I’m curious to know what others use for midrace fueling!

I personally can run up to a half distance on just plain (supplied) water and a full marathon on supplied water and salt stick. Tabs (that’s the beauty of being fat fuelled and adapted). Fuels that can be carried are bacon strips, pickles, macadamias, almond butter sachets, MCT oil or coconut oil sachets.

Water only for half marathons. Pickle juice and salt tabs for longer distances.

I’m training for a half. I ran 12 miles on Sunday with no fuel. I always run in a fasted state and I don’t take anything with me.

If your fat adapted you won’t need any food. I added salt to my water and that was it. I had been 14 weeks into keto when I did my half. I did a trial run at 8 weeks and died at mile 10.

I no longer fuel during a half – water with my own electrolytes only. Before I was fat adapted, I brought a baggie of macadamia nuts and usually only needed a few.
