The short answer is, Yes! It is indeed okay. You’ll survive and get results. I’m a testament to that. I’ve been working out at 5am for the last 5 years and until very recently did not eat before going to the gym.

Under normal circumstances and for the average weekend warrior it really doesn’t have much of an impact. For a competitive athlete who is training for optimal outcomes it is advisable to eat something prior to exercise to fuel their more intense workouts especially endurance athletes.

When you go to the gym early morning, your body is not active and hence you need a good food source which will kick start your metabolism and ensure good punch of energy for a great workout.

Always have one of these items before a workout

  • Banana
  • Dates
  • Jaggery
  • Coffee without sugar in hot water

These food items spike your insulin level giving you a good flow of energy ensuring a great workout.

In the Field of fitness assumption, thoughts, opinions changes, at intervals. Some says our body works like a vacuum if you work out on empty stomach it will use the energy from your muscles shared with some fat. In my personal experience it’s better to eat something before going to gym. Coffee is the best fat burner so having coffee before some time is the best. A banana can give you all the energy needed for work out. So learn what suits you. Working out with empty stomach in not that much good idea.

It’s better to eat something light like an apple, banana or maybe almonds before working out in the morning, if you want to gain mass.
