Is tracking macro really that important

Being part of the ketogenic lifestyle I see everyone posting about tracking macros and all that fun stuff. Which is why none of my other diet tries have worked. Is tracking macro really that important as long as you pay close attention to your sugar and carbs intake? After listening to Gary taubis and Dr. Baker they never mentions having to watch macros.

It’s advised in the early days as you need to ensure you’re getting enough fat in and that carbs are low enough and protein is at the right level. I’ve been keto nearly 3 years and am pretty good now at ‘eyeballing’ foods and know what’s what but I’ll still track a few weeks out of the year for accountability.

If you’re getting results just do you. I don’t track. Just eat high fat, mod protein, low carb whole foods. I tracked for maybe the first few weeks to figure out how much fat is 150 grams give or take 20. I lost the weight I needed to lose now I’m trying to add some lean muscle. Just eating a little more.

I tracked at first to get a feel for things but I rarely do now.

I kept track for the first 2 weeks. After that I only check items I’m unsure of. I stay at 0 sugars and under 20g of carbs… I eat my protein and fill up on fats.

I track when I need to troubleshoot, like a plateau.
