I’ve been doing Keto for about a month now with the supervision of a medical nutritionist, my PCP and my neurologist for the holistic treatment of Epilepsy. I’m pretty close to my goal weight of 135 at 142 and 21% body fat. I’m 5’5” putting me already within a normal weight range. Since I’ve been on Keto I’ve had some new symptoms come up that are making me rethink this diet for myself and would like some constructive criticism or feedback. My symptoms have been increased kidney function, fainting spells after a workout, extremely shaken after my heart rate goes up, muscle weakness and fatigue. All of these are new. When I spoke to my nutritionist he says it can be directly related to having too low of carbs. Anyone else had issues like this or similar? Stimulation can cause a seizure which has also been an issue. I’ve actually had more issues with seizure activity on this diet than before. I would love to hear your opinions and thoughts!
Everyone has hit the source of the problem already. If it were me, I would add a potassium supplement (I do an extra one in my water bottle during workouts on training days) in the am and a magnesium supplement just before bed.
