I’ve had diabetes for over 25 years and I have found every time I eat bread, grains, beans basically any carbs and fruit my blood sugars go completely out of whack over 200. I’ve been eating Dr. Greger way of eating now for three months. How long do you think it will be before I will have no more diabetes?

Try staying away from bread, rice, pasta and white potatoes for a while, until your body adjusts. Eat moderate amounts of beans, lentils, sweet potatoes, and large amounts of non-starchy veggies. It’s important to stop all oil. For fruit eat berries, an apple or orange. See how you do with this. If you cam, add 1 tsp. of Amal powder each day. It took me a while to get mine under control, and now at 18 months my fasting bs is under 100.

Was diagnosed with Diabetes type 2 3 years ago. Put on medication. I lost 70lbs trying to control it. I had weight loss surgery (VSG) 9 months ago, I also became vegetarian, although my A1C improved was still on meds. November I went fully vegan, WFPB, Oil free at home, I am medication free mu A1C is 5.3 my fasting sugar is almost always between 80 and 90.

Last January I was newly diagnosed Type 2. Lost 50 pounds over 6-7 months and got my A1C down to 5.4 from over 7. Mostly WFPB. I was on metformin too, but no longer. Still monitoring BS. With numbers over 10 you have a longer way to go. Perhaps a lot of weight to lose? Patience, and stick with diet. Lots of fruits and veggies. Oatmeal and flax for breakfast.

It will be important to eliminate all processed grains and eat only whole intact grains. Steel cut oats, quinoa, (hulled, not pearled) barley and millet, etc. Look at every jar, can, box, and bottle of food you have for problematic ingredients such as sugar, salt, and oil. You will need to be very strict with that and with food choices when you go out. And make sure you’re getting the recommended exercise indicated on the Daily Dozen.Give your body several months to adjust before you even consider tweaking with Dr. Greger’s recommended whole food plant-based healthy fats. You will probably discover that you won’t need to.

In 90 days of WFPBNO, no cheating, my a1c dropped 7.9 to 6.2. Never on meds. My doctor gave me the 90 days to try and I did it. He told me that at my next 6 month appointment he would anticipate it should be in the normal range.
