I normally stay with main PL movements. But I too sometimes gravitate to those shinny objects in the gym.

Instead of say doing bench press and fly, I do a fly/press with dumbells. I face my palms in, get a nice stretch at the bottom and make sure I get a nice contraction at the top.

Deadlifts are fun and rewarding. I got up to 475lbs. I tore out my back at age 26. I don’t lift for strength anymore, those days are gone for me. I try to make each set count by finding more efficient and effective ways to do them. I still do deadlifts but with dumbbells very slowly and with high reps.
