Never liked hunting coyotes because I’m a dog lover but like all things that changed while I was squirrel hunting with a buddy All we had was a 16 gauge bolt action with a missing magazine so it was a one shot deal my buddy owned only high caliber rifles so he was unarmed. As we sat on a rock he was calling in squirrels then we see on top of the hill we just came down a coyote was tracking us following the same path we were both in camo sitting on this rock the yote got way to close for comfort 10-15 yards. My buddy stood up and yelled gtfo here it then squatted on its hind legs started growling and being aggressive the yote started to run at my buddy as he was screaming like a girl to shoot it! It was at that moment i took up coyote hunting. When my buddy tells the story it’s the same except he will tell you I looked like a popcorn machine shaking so bad trying to reload the shells I had because I had to stick four fingers where the mag was suppose to be to get the shell to go into the chamber I had to pick up like 15 shells off the ground cuz as I was pulling them out my pocket I was shaking and couldn’t hold onto the shells lol now every year we get together to do hunt coyotes
I had a large aggressive male challenge me on a full size John Deere with the 6 foot bush hog whirling away… I don’t go unarmed anymore,,, and I watch videos of yotes chasing down deer before each hunt…. they may be dogs but they are devil dogs..
I had a group of at least 5 following me.. less than 15ft from me at 4am..archery season. ..pitch black. ..no sidearm.. not leaving to voice comands and flashlights to the eyes…..thought I was going to have a hell of a fight in the dark so I grabbed a fixed broadhead arrow held it as if I was holding a knife ready to stab away…as soon as I lunged forward they all took off….it’s amazing what you will see when you spend enough time in the woods.
