I have never owned a gas auger and I have been ice fishing  for 45 years electric all the way.

I’ve had my Eskimo propane for 3 years and haven’t had any trouble with it.

I’ll say it’s hard to find the 40v strikemaster in 10” at the moment, 8” is also gettin hard to find and according to strikemaster you won’t see anymore on shelves till next year. I used ours for the first time this weekend and it’s incredibly nice. Reverse saves so much time and no fumes. I’ve heard excellent things about the 12v as well, batteries are much cheaper and people usually have them laying around so it’s dual purpose.

I just got the Strikemaster 40V Lithium. Love it for the Wheel House.

You can’t go wrong with the SM. Propane stinks.

Got a propane this year and I will say I’m really happy with it. No more mess or worrying about gas. Left the bottles in my truck with the auger during this cold spell and she fired right up. Less fumes and lighter.
