New to the vegan lifestyle and looking for some high protein lower carbohydrate options. Most grains and legumes have a pretty equal protein to carb ratio and I'd like to avoid eating tofu and plant based protein shakes for every meal.

hanks for the reply Pat. I’ve had seitan chorizo and it not only tasted great, it had a pretty decent macro profile. I’ll definitely look into more options for that. I’m not worried about the “estrogen” effects of soy, I just don’t want to have to eat tofu every meal to hit my micronutrient parameters lol.

Seitan is your best (and pretty much only) bet. There are no reasons to avoid tofu or tempeh unless you have an allergy or intolerance. It won’t lower your testosterone or make you grow man boobs.

For maximum hypertrophy, it is actually 0.8 to 1.2 grams per pound. For maintenance, that number per kg.

Also, consider switching from regular pasta to Explore cuisine bean pasta. It’s not as good as wheat pasta but it’s decent and has 23g of proteins per serving.

Sorry I misread your comment as if you wanted to avoid tofu all the time. Check out avant-garde vegan on youtube and get the book Seitan & Beyond. It’s a life-changer and I’m not even joking.
