Ok folks, what can you tell me about menstrual irregularities on keto? I wonder (but would like more evidence – anecdotal or otherwise) if it could be related to all those hormones being released with fat loss. I am 6 weeks in. SW 164 CW 155. Down 9 pounds. Thoughts?
I have suffered with pms/pmdd for most of my life. I was looking forward to relief after clean eating for awhile. About five months on keto I started feeling terrible emotionally about cycle day 20. I have been wondering if the fat loss dumped a bunch of estrogen into circulation. Not sure if that’s how it works at all, because it’s been challenging to google this! So yes, keto has major hormonal effects, much for the good I believe! I take a couple of herbs now and added some progesterone cream from day 14-28 and it was like night and day.
