plant based diet

My husband, Type I diabetic x 25 years, Plant Based x 4 years was told yesterday by a mainstream Retinal Specialist that his as of yet untreated diabetic macular edema had resolved – and that it could only be attributed to plant based nutrition. A few months ago his mainstream cardiologist told him that his vessels looked astonishingly good for a person with his history, and instead of having vessels beyond help and being sent home to have his heart attack, he was able to have his blockages stented. Hopefully endothelium-sparing stents will soon be available – or a way to prevent clogging will be discovered for Type I diabetics…. but in the meantime we are calling this a huge win for Plant Based Nutrition – and us!!! Despite responding to evidence with plugging their ears and saying “la-la-la” (actually happened – – vascular surgeon), or refuting the growing evidence by dissing the journals it is written up in (by a cardiologist in front of an audience that was gathered to watch FOK), truth eventually comes to light. I am encouraging the health system that employs me to lead the charge and not be the one that has to answer to their patients for causing them unnecessary pain and suffering by refusing to add plant based nutrition to their treatment options.
