Recently acquired a Betta from my friend who had him in a goldfish
bowl in a windowsill. No filter or anything. I got a tiny filter/ bubbler
and put it in the bowl and he’d been in that for a few weeks. A few
days ago i got a 10 gallon tank, set it up and put him in (before i
found this group). Now that I’m reading about the cycling and whatnot
I’m worried about him. I don’t have a test kit yet and it’s been a few
days he’s been in the new tank. He’s always been very lethargic and
i never see him eat when i put food in. Help!

I would say get a test kit asap and do a small 10-25% wc ( treated with prime).
You can also take a sample of your water to PetSmart and have them test it
until you can get a kit.

I actually turned the filter off for the night so he can rest. I think the current is too strong for him. I need to add a sponge or something to lessen the flow right?
