Hi everyone! Hope you’re all having a great start to the new year. For a diabetic, any recommendations for a good snack when your blood sugar drops? Before starting Dr. Esselstyn’s program our go-to was half an apple with some peanut butter

bean toast is a great suggestion! We almost always have some lentils and beans prepared and readily available. Thank you!

A sweet potato is a great suggestion as well. Maybe with the addition of a bit of protein.

If you are type 2, I think you can expect your diabetes to resolve fairly quickly. My sister was on over 100 units of insulin daily, plus metformin – longstanding diabetic. She was off her novalog in days, and her lantus in less than two weeks. Her advice would be to check your sugar frequently as your insulin needs will go way down, quickly. I have heard that type 1s see their insulin requirements drop pretty quickly, although type 1 does not resolve.

If you are eating properly and often enough , your blood sugar should be stable. If your blood sugar drops , eat a sweet potato. Type 2 diabetes should be under control if you follow the diet properly.
