Does anyone know if the sodium in baking powder counts the same as the sodium in salt when you have high blood pressure?

You can get low sodium baking powder – 1 tsp = 4.5mg sodium.
Regular baking powder – 1 tsp = 487mg sodium
Baking soda – 1 tsp = 1258mg sodium

When you look at the labels, they are usually for 1/8th tsp.
So the only one you can use is the low sodium baking powder.

I use a program called “My FitnessPal” to keep track and couldn’t figure out where all the sodium was coming from. It showed me Baking powder and baking soda are the culprits.

Data shows it is different than sodium chloride, but you certainly don’t have to use it.
