I like to use 2-3 crappie minnows on a treble, and in the bottom 1/3rd of the water column. Saves me money on expensive suckers when I already got a scoop of crappie ones.

Set up with half suckers and half shiners to see what they want to eat that day. Usually couple feet off bottom.

2 feet under the ice and a foot off the bottom. And I like shiners on my tip ups.

It depends on water depth, clarity, and structure but 90% of the time 1 foot off bottom with sucker or shiner but fun dogs work good 3 to 4 feet under the ice with a plain hook.
