You can prevent water weight by only taking about 2.3-2.5g instead of 5g, but you won’t get near as much of the benefit. Also, it seems that water is only drawn into the muscles from creatine, not everywhere else. This will actually give your muscles a fuller look without bloat. Also, the water weight gained is not all that much anyway; about 3-8 lbs (possibly more) depending on how much water weight you already have and your overall size. You might also be a “non-responder” meaning you won’t get any water weight or any benefits from creatine.
And why you worried about water weight? You need to be stage ready for BB comp next week? You want water weight. It’s good for you. It increases performance in the gym which will promote more muscle growth and more fat loss. Water weight is good for you and if you end up hating it, you can flush almost all of that water out in a matter of days with some adjustments in your diet.
Just get some creatine monohydrate and take 5g a day for awhile. It you end up hating it, just stop taking it and let the water come back out. It’s only $15-20 for a 6 month supply and you can easily just stop. Just try it out, man or wait until you actually need it like when you start plateauing on your lifts. If you’re still able to add weight week-to-week then you don’t need creating anyway.
