To ensure that I achieve vigorous exercise is there a particular heart rate that I should be at?
60-90% of your maximum heart rate which is 220.
Or when you are exercising you should be breathing hard but still be able to talk.
I read a while ago that burning at least ten calories per minute means you’re working hard enough during a workout. And, personally, I’ve found it works well for me.
