It really depends on what body fat are you standing at.
If it’s your last spot or the stubborn area you will need to take the things to the most extreme.
To be perfectly honest with you, all you need for weight lose is diet. It does not matter how much cardio you do if you are not on a calorie deficit.
Now if you are following a strict calorie deficit diet and your main goal is just to lose the belly fat, the diet alone will give you those results but combining it with cardio would fasten up the process.

Do weight training and cardio on alternate days.
Eat after every 2 hour.
Never do weight training on two consecutive days.
Workout every muscle of your body and not just abdominals.
Diet is more important then exercise, and they work in combination.

Both cardio and weight training will help you lose fat. But remember diet is 90% success.
Now this being said, weight training does have the edge in helping you lose belly fat in the long term. Due to hormone, metabolic increase, and after burn effect.
But you should still perform cardio for heart health.

You can lose belly fat with a cardio. Cardio is the means to burn fat but strength training adds muscle. So while you lose weight, if the weight loss is high and rapid, skin starts to sag (when only cardio is done), you lose shape. Therefore, to avoid this it is rather advisable to go for a combination of both. However, if strength training doesn’t interest you, yoga or pilates is also a good option.
