Why dont betta fish get lonely being all alone in aquariums? Don’t they live near other bettas in the wild? I have a betta in a five gallon tank, all alone, he seems just fine, I want to put a platy in there with him because I need for him to be out of my community tank. Will it be ok?

Plays need 20 gallons minimum I believe and in the wild they are solitary creatures who keep other animals out of a territory about 1 meter about. Traditionally they only stand members of the opposite sex if it’s breeding season otherwise they’ll kill intruders typically

If u wanna add things to a 5 gal if recommend shrimp or a mystery snail. MAYBE neon tetras or African dwarf frogs if you can maintain the tank. Definitely not recommended adding other fish if you have an aggressive betta

Don’t anthropromorphise. In the wild, they live in long streams. Each male has at least three feet of territory to himself, and he’ll kill those that trespass. So, no, they don’t get lonely.

Get some shrimp. My boy Reaper loves his, he likes to sleep by them.
